Ryan is safe and at home now! A million thanks to everyone who reblogged my “lost service dog” post and sent out positive thoughts into the universe—you guys are amazing. I have been so blown away by the Tumblr support we have received. Last I checked, the post had over 7,000 notes!! (And the most I’ve ever had for an original post on here was like 100, sooooooo…)
Peter, Ryan’s human papa, found her with the help of our other dog, Ryan’s sister Colby, about two miles from where she first took off (she was lost on Wednesday 7/16 at 12p and found on Friday 7/18 at 9:30p). They brought Colby’s collar with all of her jingly tags and walked around with it. Ryan likely recognized the sound and perhaps Colby’s scent and emerged from somewhere near the Daly City DMV parking lot looking exhausted but oh so happy.
Her paws were worn and bloody, she was dehydrated and limping, had burs and gum in her fur, but now she is HOME and she will be okay. I am so thankful she has no lasting injuries and especially that she was apparently able to stay out of traffic, despite that where she was found is a very busy area near a freeway.
A day and a half later she is in good spirits. Her paws have kind of scabbed and hardened back up, her muscles are still sore and her back legs are tight and a little limpy, but she can now hobble around the house okay.
Thanks again, everyone!! The family is back together, homeostasis resumed, things are good.
This is the best news ever! Ryan was found! :)
